Most building quotes are put together by the builder, often quickly, sometimes on the back of a site visit. On a small job that can work. On an extension, a conversion or a new home, it is how people end up with a price that grows every week once the work starts.
How we price
Once the drawings are ready, we send them to ProQuant, a firm of specialist residential estimators. They measure every element from the drawings and price it: the groundworks, the structure, the roof, the windows and doors, the services and the finishes.
We then check it against what we know about the site and the house, and turn it into a quotation broken down line by line.

What you get
- A complete price. The whole job, not only the parts that are easy to estimate.
- Line by line. You can see where the money goes and make informed choices about finishes and priorities.
- No hidden extras. If something cannot be priced until the job is open, it is listed clearly as a provisional sum so you know about it up front.
- Something you can compare. Put our quote next to another and you can see exactly what each one includes.
Why it matters to us
We do not set out to give the lowest quote. We set out to give an accurate one. Disputes about money halfway through a job help nobody, and almost all of them come from a price that was never complete in the first place.
Pricing it in full takes a little longer. It also means that when you sign, you know what you are paying and what you are getting.
Changes during the job
Plans often change during a build. If you want to change something once work has started, we price the change before we do it, so there are no surprises at the end. Read more in our guide to choosing a builder.
