A new home is the biggest thing most people will ever build. It needs a builder who can run the whole job, not just the bricklaying.
We handle site clearance, groundworks and foundations, the structure, roof, windows and every finish inside, coordinating the specialists and the inspections along the way. We work with traditional masonry, natural stone, timber frame and modern methods such as SIPs, so the build suits the design rather than the other way round.
We also offer a foundations only service for self builders who want the groundwork in before their frame goes up.

Groundworks
Site cleared, levels set and foundations dug and poured. Everything after this depends on it being right.
Up to damp proof course
Blockwork and drainage below ground, then the damp proof course and ground floor slab.
Walls and scaffold
Walls rise in stone, brick or block, with window and door openings formed as the scaffold goes up.
Roof on
Trusses or a cut roof, then membrane, battens and slate or tile, with windows and doors fitted so the building is weathertight.
Finished home
First and second fix, plastering, kitchen, bathrooms and floors, landscaping, then handover.

Do you build from someone else's drawings?
Yes. Most of our new builds are designed by an architect, either one of the practices we work with or your own.
Do you offer a foundations only service?
Yes. We offer a foundations only service, including groundworks, blockwork up to damp proof course and preparation for the slab, for self builders using timber frame or SIP systems.
Do you build commercial new builds?
Yes. We build commercial as well as domestic new builds, so ask us about your project.
Will the house have a warranty?
New homes normally need a structural warranty for mortgage lenders. We will talk you through the warranty your lender needs, and our own work carries an insurance backed guarantee of up to 10 years.

Barlow Construction built the foundation blockwork and external brickwork up to DPC, and prepared for the ground floor slab, on my timber frame barn conversion. They worked quickly and accurately to produce level and square foundations to tight tolerances, a very sound base for the timber frame, and a high quality finish to the brickwork.
Barlow Construction has helped me through a major renovation of an 1860s property, involving new suspended ceilings, new wall linings throughout, full damp proofing, new doors and lintels, a new central heating system, and new bathroom and kitchen installs. Lewis has been a pleasure to deal with throughout, and his advice and guidance have been invaluable. His onsite team show considerable depth of experience, with no dramas in dealing with the unexpected work that crops up in an old building. If only all firms were like this to deal with.
We were introduced to Barlow Construction through our architect. They proved themselves to be a professional, trustworthy and reliable building company. Nothing was too much trouble. Originally taken on to do a single storey extension, which they did to an extremely high standard, we then asked them to lay a full surround patio with ACO drainage and repair our chimney stack.
